It is situated in the southern part of the province and borders Nangarhar Province to the south and Pakistan to the east. The Kunar River passes north through the district and irrigates the surrounding land. The population is 31,000 (2006).

Narang, Kunar, Afghanistan نرنگ in Pashto language is situated in the central part of Kunar Province, Afghanistan south of Asadabad. It is surrounded by high mountains and the Kunar River. The population is 26,700 (2006). The district center is the village of Kuz Narang at 742 m altitude. The arable land is not much and is not in good condition. The irrigation system is destroyed. Almost 75% of the houses were destroyed during the wars. Many people work abroad.

The Korangal Valley (or Korengal Valley, or Garangal Valley) in Afghanistan is located south of the Pech River in the Pech District of Kunar Province in northeastern Afghanistan. To the east is Asadabad, capital of Kunar Province, to the west is the Chapa Dara District, and to the south is the Chawkay District . In the south east there is Narang wa Badil District, and in the south west Nurgal District, which includes Shumast Aret.
