Medowie, New South Wales

Medowie /mɛˈdaʊ. iː/ is a suburb of the Port Stephens local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. It is located approximately 34 km by road north of Newcastle, not far from RAAF Base Williamtown and is home to a large number of the personnel stationed there. It was a small rural town until a property and commercial boom in the 1980s and had a population of 8,843 at the 2011 census. Medowie is home to a Rural Fire Station, formed in 1946.

Port Stephens Council

Port Stephens Council is a local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. The area is just north of Newcastle and is adjacent to the Pacific Highway which runs through Raymond Terrace, the largest town and Council seat. The area is named after Port Stephens, which is the major geographical feature of the area. The Mayor of the Port Stephens Council is Cr. Bruce MacKenzie.

Salt Ash, New South Wales

Salt Ash is a rural suburb of the Port Stephens local government areas in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. It is located on the main road between Newcastle and Nelson Bay but is largely undeveloped, partly because it is the location of the Salt Ash Air Weapons Range which is used by pilots from RAAF Base Williamtown for training purposes. The southern border of Salt Ash is occupied entirely by Stockton Beach.

Irrawang High School

Irrawang High School is one of two state high schools in Raymond Terrace. Located on Mount Hall Road, it was opened in 1983 and has a staff of 80 which serves approximately 960 students from Raymond Terrace, Medowie and other outlying areas. The current principal is Col Elliot. The school colours are green, grey and white, which is reflected in the school uniform. Irrawang High School actively competed in the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge event from 1997 till 2004.
