Banksia Creek (Queensland)

Banksia Creek is a watercourse in South East Queensland. It is located on the mainland in the area of Miriam Vale. The name refers to the plant genus Banksia, which grows in the area. The Shire of Miriam Vale was a local government area near Gladstone in Queensland, Australia. The administrative centre was the town of Miriam Vale. In 2008 the Shire of Miriam Vale amalgamated with the Shire of Calliope and the Gladstone City Council to form the Gladstone Regional Council. The Shire of Miriam Vale was a sheep growing area, and also supported timber, beef and dairy cattle.

Miriam Vale, Queensland

Miriam Vale is a town in the state of Queensland, Australia. The town is situated on the Bruce Highway, 464 km north of Brisbane, the state capital, and 170 km south of Rockhampton. Miriam Vale is renowned as a traditional cattle growing area, and also supports timber, beef and dairy cattle. Tourism is an emerging industry within the shire and the town is a gateway to the tourist resorts of Agnes Water and the Town of 1770.

Cairns Tilt Train derailment

The Cairns Tilt Train derailment occurred at 11:55 pm on 15 November 2004 when the City of Townsville diesel tilt train derailed north of Berajondo, approximately 342 km northwest of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. The prima facie cause of the incident was excessive speed; the train was travelling at 112 km/h when it derailed at the beginning of a curve with a speed limit of 60 km/h . Despite the seriousness of the incident, there were no fatalities.
