Aratula, Queensland

Aratula is a small town in South East Queensland, approximately 60 kilometres southwest of Ipswich, just east of Cunninghams Gap. Warril Creek passes very close to the town. At the 2006 census, Aratula had a population of 386. Local attractions include nearby Moogerah Peaks National Park, Main Range National Park, Lake Moogerah and ballooning. Aratula is a common rest-stop for travellers coming eastward across the Great Dividing Range. There is a caravan park and a hotel just off the highway.

Fassifern Valley

Fassifern Valley is a valley of the Scenic Rim in South East Queensland. Towns found in the valley include Harrisville, Kalbar, Roadvale, Warril View and Aratula. Fassifern Valley is known as a carrot producing area, as well as for growing potatoes, onions, pumpkins and melons. The Cunningham Highway passes through the town of Aratula and along ridges in the upper valley towards Cunninghams Gap, Mount Mitchell and parts of Main Range National Park.

Moogerah Peaks National Park

Moogerah Peaks is a National Park in the Fassifern Valley of South East Queensland, Australia, located approximately 70 km south west of the state capital Brisbane. The 676 hectare park consists of four separate protected areas which surround volcanic peaks and rocky cliffs near Moogerah Dam.

Frog Buttress

Frog Buttress is a cliff on the north-west side of Mount French, in the Moogerah Peaks National Park near the town of Boonah in Queensland, Australia. It became famous when local rock climbers Rick White and Chris Meadows discovered it in 1968. Since then, 400 routes have been established by climbers including Henry Barber, Kim Carrigan and Tobin Sorenson. The buttress is small by world climbing standards: 400m wide, 50m high in the middle, and 20m at its ends.

Grandchester, Queensland

Grandchester is a town in the Lockyer Valley region in South East Queensland, Australia. It is located 76 km west of the Brisbane CBD and is situated on the border of the Ipswich and Laidley local government areas. The name comes from Grantchester, a village outside of Cambridge in England. At the 2006 census, Grandchester had a population of 735.
