Nuriootpa, South Australia

Nuriootpa is the major commercial centre in the Barossa Valley in South Australia, about an hour's drive north of the capital, Adelaide, and 77 kilometres by rail. The name of the town is reputed to be the local Aboriginal word for "meeting place". Nuriootpa is situated at the north end of the Barossa Valley, near the Sturt Highway and has a population of almost 4500 people, making it the largest town in the area.

Penrice, South Australia

Penrice is a small town in the Barossa Valley of South Australia, just north of Angaston. It is the site of a large limestone and marble quarry operated by Penrice Soda Products. Torbreck

Torbreck is an Australian winery in the Barossa Valley, founded by David Powell in 1994. The winery was named one of the World's Top 100 Wine Estates by Robert Parker. The winery is named after a forest in Scotland where Powell worked as a lumberjack. The wines are made in a style emulating those of the Rhone Valley and are made from various grapes including red grapes Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro as well as white grapes Viognier, Roussanne and Marsanne.

Angaston, South Australia

Angaston is a town in the Barossa Valley, South Australia, 77 km north east of Adelaide. Its elevation is 347 m, one of the highest points in the valley, and has an average rainfall of 561 mm. Angaston was originally known as German Pass, but later was named after George Fife Angas, who settled in the area in the 1850s. Angaston is in the Barossa Council local government area, the state electoral district of Schubert and the federal Division of Barker.

Barossa Council is a local government area in the Barossa Valley in South Australia. It was proclaimed on 1 July 1996 through the amalgamation of several former councils: District Council of Angaston District Council of Barossa District Council of Tanunda part of the District Council of Mount Pleasant (from 1 July 1997) The council area covers 912 square kilometres and has a population of almost 22,514.
