Maydena, Tasmania

Maydena is a small town in Tasmania, Australia built alongside the River Tyenna. This Tasmanian Village is located on the Gordon River Road, south west of New Norfolk, through the Bushy Park Hop Fields, past the Styx Valley, turn left at Westerway, past Mount Field National Park and Russell Falls, through Tyenna and Fitzgerald townships and then up to Maydena itself. Gordon River Road then goes onto Lake Pedder, Lake Gordon and Strathgordon, in the Southwest National Park of Tasmania.

Derwent Valley Council

The Derwent Valley Council is a local government area of Tasmania, Australia. It covers the upper part of the Derwent River, from the major town of New Norfolk (just north-west of Hobart) to the remote south-west Hydro town of Strathgordon. The Tarn Shelf is located within this region and is an area of significant botanic interest. One unique plant that is only found in this area is a cross between the King Billy and Huon Pine.

Tyenna, Tasmania

Tyenna is a settlement in Tasmania, Australia, located 81 kilometres west of the state capital, Hobart in its current form it is in, but a vestige of a once thriving rural community. Tyenna was mentioned as early as 1896, when Mr. T. Stephens presented a paper to the Royal Society of Tasmania on possible land routes to the west coast of the island. Many settlers had already settled and started to clear the heavy forest in the area when it was officially gazetted as a town in 1918.

Mount Field National Park is a national park in Tasmania, Australia, 64 km northwest of Hobart. The landscape ranges from eucalyptus temperate rainforest to alpine moorland, rising to 1,434 metres (4,705 ft) at the summit of Mount Field West.

Mount Field West (Tasmania)

Mount Field West is a mountain in the western portion of Mount Field National Park in the south of Tasmania, Australia. It is frequently snow covered, sometimes even in summer. It is a major feature of the national park, and is a popular destination for bushwalkers. It overlooks Upper Florentine Valley and is a 7.5 hour return walk from Lake Dobson. Mount Field West rises to 1,434 metres AHD, making it the twenty-sixth highest peak in Tasmania.
