Ovens River

The Ovens River is a river in the Australian state of Victoria. Hamilton Hume and William Hovell explored the area in 1824, naming the Ovens River. The river was called Burwang by the local Aborigines. The river rises in the Victorian Alps and flows past Bright, Myrtleford and Wangaratta where it joins the King River.

Wahgunyah is a town in northeastern Victoria, Australia. The town is on the southern bank of the Murray River, opposite Corowa, New South Wales, in the Shire of Indigo. Wahgunyah is 298 kilometres north east of the state capital, Melbourne and 51 kilometres west of Albury/Wodonga. At the 2006 census, Wahgunyah had a population of 809.
