Mallacoota, Victoria

Mallacoota is a small town in the East Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia. At the 2006 census, Mallacoota had a population of 972. At holiday times, particularly Easter and Christmas, the population increases by about 8,000. It is one of the most isolated towns in the state of Victoria, 25 kilometres off the Princes Highway and 523 kilometres from Melbourne. It is 526 kilometres from Sydney, New South Wales.

Tullaberga Island

Tullaberga Island is a small, uninhabited island off the coast of Victoria, Australia, near the town of Mallacoota. It is located west of Gabo Island and 7 kilometres east of the entrance to Mallacoota Inlet. On 15 May 1853, the SS Monumental City, on a run from Sydney to Melbourne, ran aground off Tullaberga Island and became a total wreck.

Betka River

The Betka River is a river of Gippsland in southeastern Victoria, Australia. For part of its length it flows through Croajingolong National Park before entering Bass Strait to the west of Mallacoota. It lends its name to the scarce Betka Bottlebrush which is found in one place along the river.
