Rural City of Swan Hill

The Rural City of Swan Hill is a local government area of Victoria, Australia in the north-west of the state. It has an area of 6,103 square kilometres. In 2001 it had a population of 21,000. It includes the city of Swan Hill which is the administrative centre and the towns of Lake Boga, Manangatang, Nyah, Nyah West, Piangil, Robinvale, Ultima and Woorinen South. It was formed in 1995 by the merger of the City of Swan Hill, Shire of Swan Hill and part of the Shire of Kerang.

Piangil

Piangil is a town in the Mallee region of northern Victoria Australia. It is approximately 382 kilometres north west of the state capital, Melbourne and 46 kilometres north west of the regional centre of Swan Hill. At the 2006 census, Piangil and the surrounding rural area had a population of 654. Piangil Post Office opened on 17 June 1907 and was renamed Piangil North in 1918 when Piangil was relocated adjacent to the railway station. A new Piangil Post Office opened in 1921 and closed in 1993.
