Rural City of Swan Hill

The Rural City of Swan Hill is a local government area of Victoria, Australia in the north-west of the state. It has an area of 6,103 square kilometres. In 2001 it had a population of 21,000. It includes the city of Swan Hill which is the administrative centre and the towns of Lake Boga, Manangatang, Nyah, Nyah West, Piangil, Robinvale, Ultima and Woorinen South. It was formed in 1995 by the merger of the City of Swan Hill, Shire of Swan Hill and part of the Shire of Kerang.

Manangatang is a railway station located on the Robinvale railway line in the town of Manangatang in Victoria, Australia. If not for heritage funds, the station would have been demolished. Today the station is preserved by funding grants.

Manangatang

Manangatang is a remote town in north-west Victoria, Australia. At the 2006 census, Manangatang had a population of 448. It is sometimes noted for its unusual name, from an Aboriginal term - "manang" meaning land and "kaaiti" meaning water. A Mr A T Creswick, who held the BUMBANG Station, had a hut on or near the present township. Surveyed blocks, each of about one square mile in area, were available in 1911. Manangatang was proclaimed a town in 1915.
