New Providence

New Providence is the most populous island in the Bahamas, containing more than 70% of the total population. It also houses the national capital city, Nassau. The island was originally under Spanish control following Christopher Columbus' discovery of the New World, but the Spanish government showed little interest in developing the island (and the Bahamas as a whole). Nassau, the island's largest city, was formally known as Charlestown.

Baha Mar

Baha Mar is a resort under construction on the island of New Providence in the Bahamas, owned by Baha Mar Resorts Ltd. and managed by CEO Sarkis Izmirlian. Planned amenities include four hotels with 2,200 rooms, 307 private residences, a 9,300-square-metre casino, and a golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus. On 30 March 2010 an agreement on the redevelopment of the resort was announced.

Fort Charlotte (Nassau)

Fort Charlotte is a British-colonial era fort built on a hill over-looking the harbor of Nassau, The Bahamas. The fort sits a short walk west of downtown Nassau and the cruise ship terminal. The fort was constructed in the late 18th century by British colonial governor Lord Dunmore after the end of the American Revolutionary war. The fort has never been used in battle.

Thomas Robinson Stadium

Thomas Robinson Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Nassau, Bahamas. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium currently has a capacity of 15,000 people, but has the ability to be expanded to hold 30,000 people. The stadium is named after Thomas A. "Tom" Robinson, a former track and field star that represented the Bahamas at several Olympic Games.

Raid on Nassau

The Raid on Nassau was a privately raised Franco-Spanish expedition during the War of the Spanish Succession led by Blas Moreno Mondragón and Clause Le Chesnaye. The joint bourbon invaders attacked Nassau, the capital of the English Bahamas at the time and an important base of privateering for English corsairs aiming to end privateering actions in the Cuban and Saint Domingue's Caribbean seas. The town of Nassau was quickly taken and sacked, plundered and burnt down.
