Shahjalal University of Science and Technology

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (also known as SUST) is a state supported, not-for-profit, research university located in Sylhet, Bangladesh. It is the largest science & technology university in Asia. It is also one of the nine PhD granting research universities of Bangladesh. The university was founded by the Government of Bangladesh according to a university act in 1986 to give special importance in science and technology education.

Sylhet Stadium

Sylhet Divisional Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Sylhet, Bangladesh. It is currently used mostly for cricket matches as well as football. The stadium holds 15,000 people and was built in 1965. The stadium recently got funding from the government to increase its seating capacity and make major improvements on the field, and installation of floodlights.

Metropolitan University, Sylhet

Metropolitan University or MU is a nongovernmental institution in Sylhet, Bangladesh. The university was established on 3 May 2003 under the Private University Act 1992. Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury is the chairman of MU. The widespread growth of private universities in the country has generated some confusion in the minds of the conscious people as to whether these universities can conform to the fundamental principles of imparting the realistic education of a standard university.

Osmani International Airport

MAG Osmani International Airport (Bengali: ওসমানী আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দর) is an international airport located 5 miles north-east of Sylhet in Bangladesh. The airport is operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) and is served by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national airline which at one point earned most of its revenue from this airport, The airport handles only 4% of air traffic in Bangladesh. United Airways and Regent Airways also use the airport.

Sylhet

Sylhet is a major city in north-eastern Bangladesh. It is the main city of Sylhet Division, which consists of Sunamganj, Habiganj (variant of Habibganj), Maulvi Bazar and Sylhet Districts, and it was granted metropolitan city status in March 2009. Sylhet is located on the northern bank of the Surma River and is surrounded by the Jaintia, Khasi and Tripura hills.
