Styr River

The Styr River is right tributary of the Pripyat River, with a length of 494 km. Its basin area is 13,100 km². The Styr River begins near Brody, in the Ukrainian Oblast of Lviv, then flows into the Rivne Oblast, Volyn Oblast, then into the Belarusian voblast of Brest where it finally flows into the Pripyat. During 1915-1916, the Styr river was the front line between the Austro-Hungarian and Imperial Russian armies.

Stolin Raion

The Stolin Raion (Stolin District) is an administrative subdivision, a raion, in the southeast of the Brest Voblast, in Belarus. It was established on January 15, 1940 with its administrative center in the city of Stolin. The region has a population of 89,000 people, of which 26,300 people live in urban areas. The Stolin raion covers 3342 km. and borders the country of Ukraine to its south.

Stolin

Stolin is a town in the Brest Voblast of Belarus. It is the centre of the largest district in Brest voblast. The population is 12,500 people (2002). The Belarusian-Ukrainian border is about 15 km away, so Stolin is now a border city that hosts many Ukrainians on market days. Russian speech is common here, but villagers prefer their dialects that are numerous and akin partly to the Belarusian language, partly the Ukrainian language.

Luninets

Luninets is a town and administrative centre for the Luninets district in Brest Province, Belarus, before which it was in Poland (1540–1793, 1920–1939) and Russia and the Soviet Union (1793–1920, 1939–1941, 1944–1991). It has a population of some 24,000, and is immediately east of the Pinsk district within Brest. It was home to Luninets air base during the Cold War.
