Kadino, Smolensk Oblast

Kadino is a village in Monastyrshchinsky District of Smolensk Oblast, Russia, located on the right bank of the Gorodnya River. It had 204 inhabitants in 2007. The name of the village originates from the time of Tatar-Mongolian sovereignty. During Smolensk War of 1632–1634, the village was the scene of battles between the Russians and the Polish. During the Andrusov negotiations of 1666–1667 Kadino was the residence of Polish ambassadors.

Lenino, Mahilyow Voblast

Lenino (Belarusian Ле́ніна) is a large village in Belarus. Administratively a part of Horki Raion of Mahilyow Voblast. It is notable for the battlefield of the 1943 Battle of Lenino. Historically until 1918 the village had been known as Romanovo. Since the Truce of Andrusovo of 1697 it was part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and was located not far from the Polish-Muscovite border.

Battle of Krasnoi

The Battle of Krasnoi (Krasny) (November 15 to 18, 1812) was a series of skirmishes fought in the final stage of Napoleon's retreat from Moscow. The Russians under General Mikhail Illarionovich Kutuzov inflicted heavy losses on the remnants of the Grande Armée. Lacking sufficient artillery, cavalry and supplies to wage battle, Napoleon's object at Krasnoi was to collect his scattered troops and to resume his retreat.

Krasny, Krasninsky District, Smolensk Oblast

Krasny is an urban locality and the administrative center of Krasninsky District of Smolensk Oblast, Russia, located at the confluence of the Svinaya and Mereya Rivers 67 kilometers southwest of Smolensk. Population: 4,349; 4,714; 5,087. It was first mentioned in 1165. It was granted town status in 1776, but did not retain it during Soviet times.
