Trashigang

Trashigang, or Tashigang, is a town in eastern Bhutan and the district capital of the Trashigang Dzongkhag (district). The town lies on the east side of the valley above the Drangme Chhu River just south of where it is joined by the Gamri River. Trashigang is the eastern terminus of the Lateral Road, Bhutan's main highway leading to Phuntsholing in the southwest. The population of Trashigang was 2,383 in according to the 2005 census.

2009 Bhutan earthquake

The 2009 Bhutan earthquake was a 6.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred at 14:53 local time, 08:53 UTC, on September 21, 2009 in the eastern region of Bhutan. The epicenter was situated at 180 kilometres east of the capital Thimphu, in Mongar District. However, Bangladesh and India also felt it, with buildings in Guwahati, Assam, cracking up. The tremors were felt as far as Tibet. At least eleven people are reported to have been killed—seven in Bhutan, four in India.

Trashiyangtse District

Trashiyangtse District is one of the twenty dzongkhags (districts) comprising Bhutan. It was created in 1992 when the Trashiyangtse district was split off from Trashigang District. Trashiyangtse covers an area of 1,437.9 square kilometres . The district seat is Trashiyangtse.
