Borik

Borik is an urban neighborhood in the city of Banjaluka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was built northeast of the old city center after an earthquake in 1969 when Banjaluka was heavily damaged. Borik was planned for housing of people who lost their homes in an earthquake and it was built in a modern socialist architectural style, typical for cities that were developed under an influence of a communist system.

Cathedral of Saint Bonaventure

The Cathedral of Saint Bonaventure in Banja Luka is one of four Roman Catholic cathedrals in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is the seat of the Banja Luka Bishopric currently led by Bishop Franjo Komarica. The Cathedral was built in honor of Saint Bonaventure, a Franciscan theologian from the Middle Ages. It was constructed by Alfred Pichler in the 1970s after the original had been damaged in an earthquake.

Roman Catholic Diocese of Banja Luka

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Banja Luka a diocese of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church in western Bosnia. The diocese is centred in the city of Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Erected on July 5, 1881, the diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna, as the Diocese of Banjaluka. In 1985, the name of the diocese was split to the current diocese of Banja Luka. The original Cathedral of Saint Bonaventure in the city was built in 1887.

Ferhat Pasha Mosque

Ferhat Pasha Mosque, also known as the Ferhadija Mosque, was a central building in the city of Banja Luka and one of the greatest achievements of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 16th century Ottoman and Islamic architecture. The mosque was demolished in 1993 at the order of the authorities of Republika Srpska, and it is currently being rebuilt.
