Vakarel radio transmitter

The Vakarel Transmitter is a large broadcasting facility for long- and medium wave near Vakarel, Bulgaria. The Vakarel Transmitter was inaugurated in 1937. It has one directional antenna consisting of three guyed masts and another consisting of two masts. The most remarkable mast of the Vakarel Transmitter is the 215 metre tall Blaw-Knox Tower, built in 1937 by the company Telefunken.

Vakarel

Vakarel is a village, 25 km away from Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Population: 1984 people. It is situated in the Ihtiman part of Sredna Gora mountains. Lesnovo Airfield

Lesnovo Airfield is an airfield in Lesnovo, Bulgaria. The airfield is located 22 km from Sofia in Municipality of Elin Pelin. Until 1989 Lesnovo airfield is used as agricultural airport. In 2001 the airport became the property of Intersky. The asphalt runway is extended and expanded to reach their present sizes 910x25 m. Currently Lesnovo airfield has three hangars, traffic tower, restaurant and hotel. In 2011 the airfield register over of 5,000 aircraft movements.

Lesnovo is a village in central western Bulgaria, part of Elin Pelin municipality, Sofia Province. As of 2006 it has 1,829 inhabitants. The village came into existence in 16-17th centuries. Lesnovo has a three-domed Eastern Orthodox church of St Archangel Michael, a rare design for Bulgaria, dating to the early 20th century; it also features pointed arches.
