La Imperial, Chile

La Imperial or Ciudad Imperial was a city founded by Pedro de Valdivia on April 16, 1552 and named in honor of the Emperor Charles V. It was abandoned on April 5, 1600 and destroyed as a result of the Mapuche Uprising of 1598 during the War of Arauco. The ruins were called Antigua Imperial. A city was refounded there in 1882 under the name Carahue.

Carampangue

Carampangue is a small town in Biobío Region, Chile. The town is approximately 50 kilometers south of the regional capital, Concepción, and a borders the towns of Arauco and Ramadillas. Carampangue is split by a highway, with the two parts respectively referred to by residents as Carampangue Viejo (old Carampangue) and Carampangue Bajo (lower Carampangue). This division is not legal or administrative – it just makes giving directions easier. The name Carampangue is Mapudungun for green Nalca.

Laraquete

Laraquete is a Chilean town in Arauco, Arauco Province, Biobío Region. It is located at the mouth of the Laraquete River about 50 kilometers south of the Chilean city of Concepción. The town locally known for its tortillas that are served with shellfish by the "tortilleras. " The name Laraquete is Mapudungun for "big chin. " Laraquete has a population of 5000.

Laraquete River

Laraquete River is a small river in Arauco Province, Bío Bío Region of Chile. Its sources are in the Nahuelbuta Range and they flow west to its mouth at the bay of Arauco and the foot of the hill of Andalicán where there is located the town of Laraquete.

Fort Colcura

Fort Colcura was a small fort that was the first Spanish settlement that existed in the commune of Lota, Chile. It was on a small height on the edge of the Bay of Arauco, a little more than two kilometers to the southeast of the modern city of Lota. From its position it dominated the north slope of cerro Marihueñu and the valley of Colcura in whose extreme west is the mouth of the riachuelo Colcura that empties into the cove of Colcura.
