Battle of the Maule

The Battle of the Maule was fought between the Mapuche people and the Inca Empire in what is now Chile. The three-day battle, which is generally believed to have occurred in the reign of Tupac Inca Yupanqui (1471-93 CE), marked the end of the Incas' southward expansion. In a six-year campaign with an army that eventually rose to 50,000 men, the Inca general Sinchiruca had subdued the regions of northern Chile, Copiapó, Coquimbo, Aconcagua and the Maipo Valley around what is now Santiago.

Maule Region

The VII Maule Region (Spanish: VII Región del Maule) is one of Chile's 15 first order administrative divisions. Its capital is Talca. The region takes its name from the Maule River which, running westward from the Andes, bisects the region and spans a basin of about 20,600 km. The Maule river is of considerable historic interest because, among other reasons, it marked the southern limits of the Inca Empire.

Estadio Fiscal de Talca

Estadio Fiscal de Talca is a multi-use public stadium in Talca, Chile. It is currently used mostly for association football matches and is the home stadium of Rangers. The stadium was built in 1937, with an original capacity of 17,000. In 2011 it was completely renovated, and currently holds 8,200 people (all seated).
