Xindu District

Xindu District is a district of Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, People's Republic of China, located 16 kilometres from downtown Chengdu. The population of the district is 600,000, residing in an area of 481 kilometres, only 32.6 kilometres of which is part of the city's urban area. Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, or simply Chengdu Panda Base, is a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. It is located in Chengdu, Sichuan, People's Republic of China. Chengdu Panda Base was founded in 1987. It started with 6 giant pandas that were rescued from the wild. By 2008, it had 124 panda births, and the captive panda population has grown to 83.
