Portas do Cerco

Portas do Cerco is an area on the Macau Peninsula (built in 1849) http://www. asiarooms. com/travel-guide/macau/sightseeing-in-macau/barrier-gate. html, in the former Portuguese colony of Macau, now a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. It is near the Macau border checkpoint with Mainland China in the northern end of the Macau Peninsula. The new Posto Fronteiriço das Portas do Cerco (border gate border building) was opened on January 15, 2004.

Sands Macao

Sands Macao is a casino resort located in Macau Peninsula, Macau. It is owned and operated by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, and was designed by Steelman Partners, LLP. It comprises a 229,000 square feet casino, and a 289-suite hotel. Las Vegas Sands chairman Sheldon Adelson has said that his company will soon be a mainly Chinese enterprise, and quipped that Las Vegas should be called "America's Macau".

Ponte de Amizade

The Ponte de Amizade is a four-lane, two-way bridge in Macau that connects Macau Peninsula near the Reservatório and Taipa Island at Pac On. Built after the Macau-Taipa Bridge, it is the second one that connects the peninsula and Taipa. Thus it is also referred to as the New Macau-Taipa Bridge. Construction started in June 1990.

Ruins of St. Paul's

The Ruins of St. Paul's refers to the ruins of a 16th century complex in Macau including of what was originally St. Paul's College and the Cathedral of St. Paul also known as "Mater Dei", a 17th century Portuguese cathedral dedicated to Saint Paul the Apostle. Today, the ruins are one of Macau's most famous landmarks. In 2005, they were officially enlisted as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Centre of Macau.

Macau Peninsula

Macau Peninsula is the oldest and most populous part of Macau. It has an area of 8.5 square kilometres (4 by 1.8 kilometres) and is geographically connected to Guandong province, at the northeast, through an isthmus 200 metres wide. The peninsula, together with the city centre of Zhuhai, sits on an island separated from the continent by distributaries of the Pearl River. The Border Gate was built on the northern isthmus.
