Three Gorges Dam

The Three Gorges Dam is a hydroelectric dam that spans the Yangtze River by the town of Sandouping, located in Yiling District, Yichang, Hubei province, China. The Three Gorges Dam is the world's largest power station in terms of installed capacity. In the year of 2012, the amount of electricity the dam generated is neck to neck with the Itaipu Dam.

Taipingxi

Taipingxi Town is a town in Yiling District of Yichang Prefecture-level city of China's Hubei Province. It is located on the left (northern) side of the Yangtze River, near the northern end of the Three Gorges Dam. As an administrative unit, Taipingxi occupies 152 square km (mostly, rural area), and has the population of 27,000 people. Taipingxi town center is situated on on the Three Gorges Reservoir, less than a kilometer north-west of the Three Gorges Dam's ship locks.

HVDC Gezhouba–Shanghai

The HVDC Gezhouba–Shanghai is a high voltage direct current electric power transmission system between Gezhouba and Nanqiao near Shanghai, China put in service in 1989. The bipolar 1,046-kilometre line is rated at 500 kV and a maximum power of 1,200 MW.
