Santa María la Antigua del Darién

Santa María la Antigua del Darién was a Spanish colonial town founded in 1510 by Vasco Núñez de Balboa, located in present-day Colombia approximately 40 miles south of Acandí. It was the first city founded by conquistadors in mainland America. After Pascual de Andagoya, a Spanish-Basque conquistador under the direction of Panama governor Pedrarias Dávila, founded Panama City in 1519, Santa María la Antigua del Darién was abandoned and in 1524 was attacked and burned by the indigenous people.

Gulf of Urabá

The Gulf of Urabá is a gulf on the northern coast of South America. It is part of the Caribbean Sea. It is a long, narrow inlet located on the coast of Colombia, close to the connection of the continent to the Isthmus of Panama. The town of Turbo, Colombia, lies at the southern end of the Gulf. The Atrato River flows into the Gulf of Urabá.

Turbo, Colombia

Turbo is a port town in Antioquia Department, Colombia. It is located at around {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:8|5|53|N|76|43|54|W| | |name= }}. It is located on the coast of Gulf of Urabá, 340 km. north of Medellín (the department capital and second largest Colombian city). This port city is the capital of the Urabá region of Antioquia, Colombia. The place where Turbo is today was known as Pisisí, but by 1741 people were already talking about Turbo.

Necoclí

Necoclí is a town and municipality in Antioquia Department, Colombia. It was originally founded as a Spanish city called San Sebastián de Buena Vista. One of Colombia's oldest towns, it was founded 1509 by Pedro de Heredia who died in 1555, but the city lives on. Some early reports of the town can be found in chapter 9 of Pedro de Cieza de León's Crónica del Perú: primera parte.
