Dragonja

The Dragonja is a 30-kilometre long river in the northern part of the Istrian peninsula. It is a meandering river with a very branched basin and a small quantity of water. It often dries up in summer. It features very diverse living environments and is home to a number of animal and plant species. The Dragonja has been a matter of a territorial dispute between Croatia and Slovenia, with its lowest portion de facto the border of the two countries.

ATP Studena Croatia Open

The ATP Vegeta Croatia Open is a tennis tournament held in Umag, Croatia that is part of the 250 series of the ATP Tour. The first Croatia Open was held in 1990 as the Yugoslavia Open and has been played every year since. It is played on red clay courts. Carlos Moyá has won the tournament a record five times; he also holds the record for the most consecutive wins at three. His most recent win was in 2007.

Portorož Airport

Portorož Airport is the smallest of three international airports in Slovenia. It is located near the village of Sečovlje, 6 km south of Portorož, and less than 300 m from the Croatian border. The airport was opened on 27 September 1962. In addition to Portorož, the airport serves a number of other tourist destinations in the region, including Piran, Izola, Koper in Slovenia, Trieste in Italy and Umag in Croatia.
