Roč

Roč is a village in Istria, north-west Croatia, with a population of only 180 people. It is about 50 km south-east of Trieste, Italy, located on the road Trieste — Koper — Učka Tunnel — Rijeka. Its other names are Rus (quoted as such in a document of 1064), Ronz and Rozzo. Together with Roč, they all derive from the Celtic name Roz: the related name Roc is very common in wide areas under Celts influence. The Romans called it Castrum Rotium or Rocium.

Hum, Croatia

Hum is a town in the central part of Istria, northwest Croatia, 7 km from Roč, 14 km southeast of Buzet on a hill above the Mirna valley. The elevation of the town is 349 m. This small fortified habitation has maintained all the features of medieval urban architecture and organization. It has a population of only 17 people (2001 census), but is officially a town, and is the Guinness World Record holder for the smallest town in the world.

Slavnik

Slavník (died 981) was a Bohemian nobleman, the founder of Slavník's dynasty. He is said to have had consanguinity with the Saxon kings. He had several children by his wife Střezislava. Six of his sons are known by name: Soběslav (his heir), Saint Adalbert (Vojtěch), Spytimír, Pobraslav, Pořej and Čáslav. He had also a son named Radim (Gaudentius) by another woman (probably a concubine). According to Cosmas' chronicle, Slavník was a happy man all his lifetime.

Boljun

Boljun is a village in central Istria, Croatia, in the area of Boljunsko Polje, 20 km northeast of Pazin; elevation 253 m. Boljun is located on the regional road Učka - Labin. The main occupation is farming. It has a population of 83 (2011). The village is located on the low slopes of Učka mountain.

Istarske Toplice

Istarske Toplice (Terme Istriane, o Bagni di Santo Stefano), a thermal health resort in the central part of Istria, Croatia. It's located in the village of Livade, 11 km southwest of Buzet (Pinguente). It is located in the canyon part of the Mirna river (Fiume Quieto), surrounded by lush vegetation. The surrounding, once much bigger, common oak forest - the only of that kind on the Croatian coast - is known as Motovunska Šuma (Foresta di Montona).
