Strahoninec

Strahoninec is a municipality in Međimurje County, Croatia. Strahoninec is the only village in the municipality. Also part of the municipality is the hamlet of Poleve, located just over a kilometre south of the village. In the 2001 census, the municipality had a population of 2,728. Of the entire population, a total of 2,645 people (97%) identified themselves as Croats.

Čakovec Hydroelectric Power Plant

Čakovec Hydroelectric Power Plant is a large hydroelectric power plant in Croatia that has four turbines with a nominal capacity of 21 MW each having a total capacity of 84 MW. It is a multipurpose facility harnessing the Drava River water power, providing flood and erosion control, improving drainage, water supply, traffic and conditions for development of leisure industry and sports.

Orehovica, Croatia

Orehovica is a village and municipality in Međimurje County, Croatia. There are three villages in the municipality – Orehovica, Podbrest and Vularija. In the 2001 census, the population of the municipality was 2,769 – 1,659 in Orehovica, 698 in Podbrest and 412 in Vularija. The majority of the people identified themselves as Croats during the census. The name Orehovica is derived from oreh, meaning "walnut" in the Kajkavian dialect of Croatian language, spoken in Međimurje County.

Čakovec Castle

Čakovec Castle or Zrinski Castle (Croatian: Čakovečka utvrda or Stari grad Zrinskih) is a castle in Čakovec, northern Croatia. The castle is located in Zrinski Park, not far from the city's central square. It was built in the 13th century by Count Dimitrius Csáky, after whom the city of Čakovec is named. It was later owned by many others, including the House of Lacković, the Counts of Celje as well as the Counts of Ernušt, Counts of Zrinski, Althan, Feštetić and others.
