Flag of Northern Cyprus

The flag of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (Turkish: Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti bayrağı) is based on the flag of Turkey with the colors reversed and two horizontal red stripes added at the top and bottom. It was the result of a competition to find a new representative flag for the TRNC. The local use of the Turkish flag is somewhat similar to the use of the Greek flag in the rest of the island.

Near East University

Near East University (NEU; in Turkish: Yakın Doğu Üniversitesi, commonly referred to as YDÜ) is a private university where over 17 thousand students from Cyprus and 55 overseas countries carry out undergraduate and postgraduate studies. It was founded in North Nicosia in 1988. The medium of instruction at the Near East University is English in most departments.

Kyrenia District

Kyrenia District is one of the six districts of Cyprus. Its main town is Kyrenia. It is the smallest of Cyprus' districts, and is the only one fully controlled by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, recognised only by Turkey. A district administration in "exile" exists on the Republic of Cyprus controlled part of the island, near Ledra Palace, while the TRNC district has a kaymakam, which is Savaş Orakçıoğlu at the moment.

Panagia Apsinthiotissa

Panagia Apsinthiotissa or Absinthiotissa is a Greek Orthodox monastery located at the southern foot of the Pentadaktylos range in the Republic of Cyprus. As a result of Cyprus dispute and the invasion of the Turkish army in 1974, the site presently falls within the de facto Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Lefkoşa District. The nearest settlements are Sychari (Συγχαρί, Tr. Kaynakköy) and Vouno (Βουνό, Tr. Taşkent).
