Soli, Cyprus

Soli or Soloi is an ancient Greek city in the island of Cyprus, located south-west of Morphou and on the coast in the gulf of Morphou and dates back to about the 6th century BC. Since 1974 the city has lain in the de facto Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Originally, Soloi was located, in a much constricted geographical location. At its current location, the whole urban center was designed by Solon, after whom the name is, during his 10 year trip.

Kokkina exclave

Kokkina is a village in Cyprus, administered by the internationally unrecognised Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. It was one of the Turkish Cypriot enclaves prior to the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. It is hemmed in on three sides by mountainous territory to the Greek part of the island, with the Mediterranean sea on its northern flank.

European University of Lefke

European University of Lefke (EUL) is an institution of higher learning, located in the Northern Cyprus Nicosia District town of Lefka, overlooking Morphou Bay. Founded in 1989 by Cyprus Science Foundation, the university opened in 1990 as a member of the Balkan Universities Network, and offers 5 faculties, 5 vocational programs, 28 undergraduate programs and 11 graduate programs, which are approved by Turkey's Council of Higher Education.

Cyprus Mines Corporation

The Cyprus Mines Corporation was an early twentieth century American mining company based in Cyprus. In 1914, Charles G. Gunther began prospecting in the Skouriotissa area after reading in ancient books that the island was rich in copper and noticing promising ancient Roman slag heaps in the area. The company was established in 1916 by Colonel Seeley W. Mudd and his son, Harvey Seeley Mudd. Initially the mine struggled, but eventually obstacles were overcome and the mine produced money.

Morphou Bay

Morphou Bay (Greek: Κολπος Μορφου, Kolpos Morfou; Turkish: Güzelyurt Körfezi), is a part of the Mediterranean Sea, located on the North Western side of the island of Cyprus. It is named after the nearby inland town of Morphou. The bay forms the westernmost seaboard of the break-away Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which claims the bay as its own territorial waters.
