It lies approximately 7 kilometres south of Otmuchów, 15 km south-west of Nysa, and 63 km south-west of the regional capital Opole. Before 1945 the area was part of Germany. The village has a seventeenth century former bishop's palace which is currently being restored by the author Jim Parton.
