Arta Region

The Arta Region is one of the six regions of Djibouti. It is situated in the south-central of the country, bordering the Tadjoura Region to the north,and the Djibouti Region to the north-east, and Dikhil Region the Ali Sabieh Region to the south, the county of Somalia lies to the east. The capital of Arta Region is Arta. Other towns include We`a, Damerjog and Loyada. The Hemed mountain is the highest point in the region of Arta.

Arta, Djibouti

Not the be confused with `Arta, a village in the region. Arta is a town located in southeastern Djibouti. The center of the Arta Region, it is the country's sixth-largest city. As of 2012, the population was 13,010. Arta is situated on the Mountains of Arta and is famous for its mild climate. It is located some 35 kilometers west of the national capital, Djibouti City.

Sagallo

Sagallo or Sagallou was a short-lived Russian colony on the Gulf of Tadjoura in present-day Djibouti. In 1889, a Russian by the name of Nikolay Ivanovitch Achinov (b. 1856), arrived with settlers and an Orthodox priest. The French considered the presence of the Russians as a violation of their territorial rights and dispatched two gunboats. The Russians were bombarded and after some loss of life, surrendered.

Gulf of Tadjoura

The Gulf of Tadjoura, is a gulf or basin of the Indian Ocean in the Horn of Africa. It lies south of the straits of Bab-el-Mandeb, or the entrance to the Red Sea, at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:11.7|N|43.0|E|scale:1000000|||| | |name= }}. Most of its coastline is the territory of Djibouti, except for a short stretch on the southern shore, which is part of the territory of Somalia. At the entrance of the Gulf is the group of small islands of Moucha and Maskali.
