Battle of Las Carreras

The Battle of Las Carreras, was a major battle during the years after the Dominican War of Independence and was fought on April 21, 1849, nearby Baní, Peravia Province. A force of Dominican troops, a portion of the Army of The South, led by General Pedro Santana, defeated an outnumbering force of the Haitian Army led by Faustin Soulouque.

Don Gregorio (town)

Don Gregorio is a town in Nizao County, Dominican Republic, located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:18|13|53|N|70|11|58|W| | |name= }}. It is the second most populated town in the Nizao County of the Peravia Province and is located in southeastern corner of the County, in the estuary of the Nizao River. Don Gregorio was elevated to municipal section on January 1, 1945, when Nizao was elevated from Municipal District to the category of County by the Dominican Congress.

Cruce de Ocoa

Cruce De Ocoa is an important junction and a small town in the Dominican Republic. Less than a thousand inhabitants live in the town. A major highway, DR-2, passes through and intersects with DR-Route 42 at Cruce De Ocoa. DR-Route 42 connects DR-2 to San José de Ocoa, capital city of the province with the same name. Several "paradores", a Dominican name for rest stops, are located here.
