Guananico

Guananico is a town in the Dominican Republic, situated in the Puerto Plata Province. It has an area of 58.02 square kilometers and a population of 8,954 of which 3,025 live in the urban part and 5,929 in the rural part. It is the youngest, smallest, and of the smallest population of the eight cities in the province of Puerto Plata.

Cordillera Septentrional

The Cordillera Septentrional runs parallel to the north coast of the Dominican Republic, with extensions to the northwest, the Tortuga island, and to the southeast, the Samaná Peninsula where it becomes the Sierra de Samaná. Its highest mountain is Diego de Ocampo, close to Santiago de los Caballeros, with 1,250 metres . There are several small plains between this range and the Atlantic Ocean. Rivers are short and most of them flow to the north.

Port of Puerto Plata

The Port of Puerto Plata is located in San Felipe de Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. This is the main harbor in the north coast and it is currently used for cargo operations and several military movements. Fortaleza San Felipe

Fortaleza San Felipe is a historic Spanish fortress located in the north of Dominican Republic in the province of Puerto Plata. Is also known as El Morro de San Felipe and was used to protect the City of Puerto Plata from pirates and corsairs. It is located on a hill at the Puntilla Del Malecón, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean; its strategic location protected the entrance to the city's seaport.
