TAME 737-200 crash

The 1983 TAME Boeing 737-200 crash was an aviation incident in which a Boeing 737-2V2 Advanced, operated by the Ecuadorian national airline TAME, which was flying on a domestic route from Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito to Mariscal Lamar Airport in Cuenca, crashed into a hill during final approach just one mile (1.6 km) from its final destination, killing all 119 people on board.

Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cuenca

The Roman Catholic Metropolitan Archdiocese of Cuenca (Latin: Archidioecesis Conchensis in Aequatore) is an archdiocese located in the city of Cuenca in Ecuador. Erected as the Diocese of Cuenca from territory of the Diocese of Quito on July 1, 1786, it was elevated to archdiocese status on April 9, 1957.

Tumebamba

Tumebamba or Tomebamba, was a former city-state in the Inca federation, held by the ethnic Cañaris people; roughly translating to "plain of knives". Because of its high quality architecture, it was given to Atahualpa when the empire was divided in 1527. At that time, the city was the most important of the northern part of the empire, known as Chinchay Suyu. The center of Tomebamba was Pumapungo, which means "Gate of the Puma" from where was performed the administration of the region.
