Karanis

Karanis, located in modern Kom Aushim, was an agricultural town in Graeco-Roman Egypt, located in the northeast corner of the Fayum. "It was one of a number of towns established in the Arsinoite nome under Ptolemy II Philadelphus as part of a scheme to settle Greek mercenaries among the indigenous Egyptians and to exploit the potential fertile Fayum basin".

Gerzeh culture

Gerzeh, also Girza or Jirzah, was a predynastic Egyptian cemetery located along the west bank of the Nile and today named after al-Girza, the nearby present day town in Egypt. Gerzeh is situated only several miles due east of the lake of the Al Fayyum. The Gerzean culture is a material culture identified by archaeologists. The Gerzean is the second of three phases of the Naqada Culture, and so is called Naqada II.

Tarkhan (Egypt)

Tarkhan is the modern name for an Ancient Egyptian cemetery, located about 50 km south of Cairo on the West bank of the Nile. The cemetery was excavated in two seasons by Flinders Petrie. Tombs of almost all periods were found, but most importantly many belonging to the time of Egyptian state formation, around 3000 BC. Petrie found more than 2,000 tombs, most of them simple holes in the ground belonging to common people.

Pyramid of Senusret I

The Pyramid of Senusret I is an Egyptian Pyramid built to be the burial place of the Pharaoh Senusret I. The pyramid was built during the twelfth dynasty of Egypt at el-Lisht, near the pyramid of his father, Amenemhat I. Its ancient name was Senusret Petei Tawi (Senusret beholds the two lands). The pyramid was 105 meters on each side with a height of 61.25 meters; the slope of the four faces was 49° 24' degrees.
