Battle of Paju

The Battle of Paju was fought in Paju, near Valga, Estonia, on 31 January 1919 during the Estonian War of Independence. After heavy fighting, the Tartu–Valga group of the Estonian Army pushed the Red Latvian Riflemen out of the Paju Manor. It was the fiercest battle in the early period of war. The Estonian commander Julius Kuperjanov fell in the fighting.

Valga Airfield

Valga is a former Soviet air base in Estonia located in Jaanikese, 4 km northeast of Valga. It was listed on the 1974 Department of Defense Global Navigation Chart No. 3 as having jet facilities. It has mostly been plowed under into farmland. It is only one km from the Latvian border.

Tõlliste Parish is a rural municipality of Estonia, in Valga County. It occupies an area of 193.78 km with a population of 1,785 (as of 1 January 2010). The current mayor of Tõlliste Parish is Madis Gross from the Social Democratic Party.

Valga County

Valga County, or Valgamaa, is one of 15 counties of Estonia. Its capital is Valga, which is located on the Estonian-Latvian border. It is situated in southern part of the country and borders Põlva County and Võru County to the east, Latvia to the south and to the west, Viljandi County and Tartu County to the north. 34,135 people live in Valga County – constituting 2.5% of the total population in Estonia (as of January 2009).

Valga Keskstaadion

Valga Keskstaadion (Central stadium of Valga) is a multi-use stadium in the town of Valga, Estonia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and hosts the matches of FC Valga Warrior. The stadium holds 450 people and was opened in 1956.
