Debre Abbay

Debre Abbay is a monastery of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church located at the edge of the canyon of the Tekezé River in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia. The monastery dates from the 14th century, and has important connections with Ethiopian history: the Emperor Zara Yaqob was educated there until his 14th year, the Battle of Debre Abbay was fought nearby 14 February 1831, and notable Ethiopian scholars, such as Gedamu Woldegiorgis, continued to be educated there well into the early to mid-1900's.

Tselemti

Tselemti (also transliterated Salamt) is one of the woredas in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia. The woreda name is derived from the name of the former province Tselemt, which also lay between the Tekezé River and the Semien Mountains.

Addi Arkay (woreda)

Addi Arkay is one of the woredas in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Located at the northeastern point of the Semien Gondar Zone, Addi Arkay is bordered on the south by Jan Amora, on the southwest by Debarq, on the north by the Tigray Region, and on the east by Tselemt. Towns in Addi Arkay include Addi Arkay and Zarima. Tselemt woreda was separated from Addi Arkay. This woreda is situated on the northern slopes of the Semien Mountains. Rivers include the Zarima, a tributary of the Tekezé.

Asigede Tsimbela

Asegede Tsimbela is one of the woredas in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Semien Mi'irabawi Zone, Asegede Tsimbela is bordered along the south by the Tekezé River which separates the woreda on the south from Tselemti and to the west by the Mi'irabawi Zone, then on the northwest by Tahtay Adiyabo, on the north by La'ilay Adiyabo, on the northeast by Tahtay Koraro, and on the east by Medebay Zana.
