Jyväskylän maalaiskunta had three population centres: Vaajakoski, Tikkakoski and Palokka. Jyväskylä Airport in Tikkakoski is one of the busiest in Finland. On September 1, 2008 Jyväskylän maalaiskunta had 36,389 inhabitants.
