II District, Turku

The II District is one of the central districts of Turku, Finland. It is located on the east side of the river Aura, between Uudenmaankatu and Kaskenkatu. Aboa Vetus and Ars Nova is a museum in central Turku, Finland. The museum is housed in a building known as the Rettig palace, originally built in 1928. Aboa Vetus displays portions of the city dating back to medieval times, while Ars Nova is a museum of contemporary art. The museum was first opened in 1995 as two independent museums.

Katedralskolan i Åbo

Katedralskolan i Åbo (The Cathedral School of Åbo) is the Swedish-language senior high school of Turku, located at the Old Great Square (the town, former capital of Finland, is known as Åbo in Swedish). The school was presumably founded in 1276 for education of boys to become servants of the Church. The schoolhouse was situated in the wall surrounding the Cathedral of Turku. Mikael Agricola, the founder of Finnish literature, was the headmaster of the school 1539-1548.

Turku Cathedral

Turku Cathedral is the Mother Church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, and the country's national shrine. The III District is one of the central districts of Turku, Finland. It is located on the east side of the river Aura, between Kaskenkatu and Martinkatu. The district is largely composed of the Samppalinna sports park, and includes sporting venues such as the Paavo Nurmi Stadion as well as cultural sites such as the city theatre and the Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art.
