Géoscope (geology)

The Geoscope is a monumental display of rocks at the La Lozère motorway service at junction 32 of the A75 autoroute at Albaret-Sainte-Marie in the department of Lozère, France. It is sometimes described as a geological museum. 45 stones, each weighing many tonnes and accompanied by an interpretive panel are artistically arranged in a circle in an old quarry.

Château d'Apcher

The Château d'Apcher is a ruined feudal castle in the commune of Prunières in the Lozère département of France. The castle was built and altered in the 11th century, with further building in the 12th and 14th centuries. It was the ancient seat of the Marquis d'Apchier, one of the eight barons of Gévaudan. It was abandoned bit by bit during the 17th century. Today, it is a ruin with only the keep still intact.

Château de Saint-Ilpize

The Château de Saint-Ilpize is a ruined castle in the commune of Saint-Ilpize in the Haute-Loire département of France. The medieval town of Saint-Ilpize clings to a basalt rock on which stands the castle. Within the castle's walls is a 14th century chapel built of polychromatic tufa; a basalt gable wall houses the church bells.

Château de Chavaniac

The Château de Chavaniac is a fortified manor house of eighteen rooms furnished in the Louis XIII style located in Chavaniac-Lafayette, Haute-Loire, in Auvergne, France. Flanked by two towers of black stone, it was built in the 14th century and was the birthplace of General Lafayette in 1757. In 1917, American industrialist John Moffat purchased the castle and renovated it completely to preserve documents and objects relating to General Lafayette.
