Pays de Caux

The Pays de Caux is an area in Normandy occupying the greater part of the French département of Seine Maritime in Haute-Normandie. It is a chalk plateau to the north of the Seine Estuary and extending to the cliffs on the English Channel coast - its coastline is known as the Côte d'Albâtre. In the east, it borders on the Pays de Bray where the strata below the chalk show through. Cauchois is a notable dialect of the Norman language.

Valmont Abbey

Valmont Abbey (Abbaye de Valmont, Sainte-Marie de Valmont or abbaye Sainte-Marie) was a Benedictine abbey in Valmont, Seine-Maritime, France. Its chapel and surviving ruins of other parts of the abbey were classed as a historic monument in 1951 and the facades and roofs of all the abbey buildings were made historic monuments in 1965. It was founded in 1169 by Nicolas d'Estouteville with Benedictines split off from Hambye Abbey.

Chêne chapelle

The Chêne chapelle (lit. "chapel oak") is an oak tree located in Allouville-Bellefosse in Seine-Maritime, France. The oak tree is between 800 and 1,200 years old. It is 15m high and its base has a circumference of 16m. Its hollow trunk hosts two chapels, which were built there in 1669: Notre Dame de la Paix ("Our Lady of Peace") and the Chambre de l'Ermite ("Hermit's room"). A spiral staircase around the trunk provides access to the chapels.

Fécamp Abbey

Fécamp Abbey (French: Abbaye de la Trinité de Fécamp) is a Benedictine abbey in Normandy, northern France. The abbey was the first producer of Bénédictine, a herbal liqueur, based on brandy.

Valmont (river)

The river Valmont is one of the small rivers that flow from the plateau of the Pays de Caux into the English Channel. The river rises at an altitude of 56m at the commune of Valmont at a place called le Vivier. It takes a northwest orientation and falls by a slope of 2,8%, passing through the commune of Colleville before joining the sea via the port of Fécamp.
