Erding Air Base

Erding Air Base is a German Air Force airfield near the town of Erding, about 45 kilometers northeast of central Munich in Bavaria. It is the home of the 5th Air Defense Missile Squadron and the 1st Air Force Maintenance Regiment. The last public airshow at Erding was held during the summer of 1986.

Ismaning radio transmitter

The Transmitter Ismaning is a large radio transmitting station near Ismaning, Bavaria, Germany. It was inaugurated in 1932. From 1932 to 1934 this transmitter used a T-antenna as transmitting antenna, which was spun between two 115-metre-high free-standing wooden lattice towers, which were 240 metres apart. As this antenna had an unfavourable vertical radiation pattern, which produced much skywave resulting in a too small fading-free reception area at night, in 1934 a new antenna was installed.

Erching transmitter

The Erching transmitter was a longwave broadcasting facility of the Voice of America, established in 1953 near Erching, Bavaria, Germany. The transmitter used a 256 metre high guyed-steel-framework mast aerial, at the time of its inauguration the most powerful radio station in the world with a transmitting power of 1000 kilowatts In 1973 the transmitter was shut down because of a relaxed political climate. In 1979 it was used for LORAN-D tests.
