Ahlden House

Ahlden House is a stately home at Ahlden on the Lüneburg Heath in Lower Saxony, Germany. It was built in 1549 as a water castle on the river Aller, which has since changed its course. Nowadays the three-winged mansion is a private residence and is used as an arts auction house. It is principally known as the place of imprisonment of Sophia Dorothea of Celle, otherwise Sophie Dorothea of Brunswick-Lüneburg, wife of George I of Great Britain and the mother of George II of Great Britain.

Walsrode Abbey

Walsrode Abbey in Walsrode, Germany, is one of the historic nunneries on the Lüneburg Heath in North Germany which are collectively known as the Lüneklöster. Today it is a Lutheran women's convent that is maintained by the Hanover monastic chamber (Klosterkammer Hannover).

Leine

The Leine is a river in Thuringia and Lower Saxony, Germany. It is a left tributary of the River Aller (and so of the River Weser as well) and 281 km in length. The river's source is located close to the town of Leinefelde in Thuringia. Forty kilometres downriver, the river enters Lower Saxony and runs northwards. Important towns upstream to down along its course are Göttingen, Einbeck, Alfeld and Gronau, before the river enters Hanover, the largest city on its banks.
