Güntersburg

The ruined castle of Güntersburg stands about 2 km southwest of Güntersberge in the Harz Mountains of central Germany. The ruins are located on the 485 m Hoher Kohlberg hill in the Selke valley. The castle site is very large and has an area of about 3 hectares . It was probably a fortified settlement with a medieval castle. To the northwest the site was protected by a rampart and a 150 m long ditch, whose scale can still be easily made out today.

Selkenfelde

Selkenfelde is an abandoned village in Saxony-Anhalt in the central German district of Harz. It is located not far from the B 242 federal road (Harz High Road) between Stiege (Harz) and Güntersberge. According to legend the origins of the village go back to Charlemagne. It was first mentioned as Silicanuelth in AD 961 in two documents by King Otto I and co-regent Otto II dated 15 and 25 July. Selkenfelde had been already abandoned by the Thirty Years' War.

Böser Kleef

The Böser Kleef is a rock formation, 440 metres above sea level, near the village of Altenbrak in the district of Harz in central Germany. It is made largely of granite. The Böser Kleef can be reached on foot from several directions including a footpath from Forsthaus Todtenrode. It lies above the Bode valley in woods. Bode Gorge

The Bode Gorge is a 10 kilometres long ravine that forms part of the Bode valley between Treseburg and Thale in the Harz Mountains of central Germany. The German term, Bodetal (literally "Bode Valley"), is also used in a wider sense to refer to the valleys of the Warme and Kalte Bode rivers that feed the River Bode. At the Bode Gorge, the River Bode, which rises on the highest mountain in the Harz, the Brocken, has cut deeply into the hard Ramberg granite rock.

Roßtrappe

The Roßtrappe is a 403 m high granite crag in the Harz mountains of central Germany. The Roßtrappe rises high over the Bode Gorge in the Harz. It may be reached from Thale by road, on foot or on a chair lift. On the rocks is a mountain hotel with an observation terrace as well as the upper station for the chair lift.
