The Tamale Airport has now been upgraded to the status of an international airport, with all the necessary facilities. It gained international status in December 2008. Savelugu is a town in the Northern region of Ghana and it is the capital of Savelugu-Nanton district. The town is known for the Savelugu Secondary School. The school is a second cycle institution. Savelugu is the forty-fifth most populous in Ghana, in terms of population, with a population of 38,074 people. At the Ghana census of 26 March 2000 there were 24,937 inhabitants living in the town. Projections of 1 January 2007 estimated the population to be 30,529 inhabitants.
