Battle of Doiran

The third Battle of Doiran was fought from 18 September to 19 September 1918, with the Greeks and the British assaulting the positions of the Bulgarian First Army near Dojran Lake. The battle was part of World War I and took place in the Balkan Theatre. The battle ended with the Bulgarians repulsing all attacks, but then retreating.

Doiran Lake

Doiran Lake (Macedonian: Доjранско Езеро, Doiransko Ezero; Greek: Λίμνη Δοϊράνη, Límni Doïráni) is a lake with an area of 43.1 km² shared between the Republic of Macedonia (27.3 km²) and West Macedonia within Greek Macedonia, Greece (15.8 km²). To the west is the city of Nov Dojran (Нов Дојран), to the east the village of Mouries, to the north the mountain Belasica/Beles and to the south the Greek town of Doirani.

Dojran Municipality

Dojran is a municipality in southeastern part of Republic of Macedonia. Nov Dojran is the village where the municipal seat is found. Dojran Municipality is part of the Southeastern Statistical Region.

Dojran

Dojran was a city located on the western shore of Dojran Lake in the south-eastern part of the Republic of Macedonia. Today, it is collective name for two villages that exist on the territory of the ruined city: Nov (New) Dojran (settled from the end of World War I to World War II) and Star (Old) Dojran, which contains both old ruins and recent construction, especially hotels, resorts and restaurants. Dojran is located 170 km from Skopje, 59 km from Strumica and some 30 km from Gevgelija.

Tumba Peak (Belasica)

Tumba is a peak in the Belasica mountains in the region of Macedonia. The peak, 1,880 metres in height, lies on Belasica's main ridge, west of Lozen Peak and east of Sechena Skala Peak. A dome-shaped mountain with steep southern and northern slopes, Tumba is covered with low subalpine vegetation and is made of metamorphic rock. Tumba is notable as the point where the national borders of Bulgaria, Greece and the Republic of Macedonia meet.
