Galipe

Galipe (Greek: Γάλιπε, pronounced “Galipae”) is a village in Episkopi's municipality, Pediada's province, in Heraklion, Crete, Greece. It is situated at 280 m. altitude, 21 km away from Heraklion. The economy of the village is mainly based on agriculture. The main cultivations concern vines (focused on the production of raisins and secondarily for wine) and olives for olive oil production. The population is 150 inhabitants, according to the census of 2001.

Skotino cave

The Skotino cave is one of the largest and more impressive caves among the many caves found in Crete. The cave lies high on a hill northwest of the village of Skotino, a few kilometers inland south of Gouves. It is also known as Agia Paraskevi cave from the church dedicated to Saint Paraskevi built on top of it. The cave is 160 meters deep and 36 meters wide.

Iraklion Air Station

Cretaquarium

Cretaquarium (Greek: Ενυδρείο Κρήτης, Enidrio Kritis) or Thalassocosmos (Greek: Θαλασσόκοσμος, "sea world") is a public aquarium located near the town of Gournes in Crete, Greece, 15 km east of the city of Heraklion. The Cretaquarium project was conceived by employees of the former Institute of Marine Biology of Crete (IMBC) to create the first large aquarium in Greece, as part of a marine park for research, education, culture and recreation.

Amnisos

Amnisos, also Amnissos and Amnisus, is a bronze-aged settlement on the north shore of Crete and was used as a port to the palace city of Knossos. It appears in Greek literature and mythology from the earliest times, but its origin is far earlier, in prehistory. The historic settlement belonged to a civilization now called Minoan. Excavation at Amnisos in 1932 uncovered a villa that included the "House of the Lilies", which was named for the lily theme that was depicted in a wall fresco.
