Pythion

Pythion or Pythium, was an ancient city of Perrhaebia in Thessaly, situated at the foot of Mount Olympus, and forming a Tripolis with the two neighbouring towns of Azorus and Doliche. Pythion derived its name from a temple of Apollo Pythius situated on one of the summits of Olympus, as we learn from an epigram of Xeinagoras, a Greek mathematician, who measured the height of Olympus from these parts (ap. Petrades

Petrades is the easternmost point of mainland Greece. It is located south of the community of Pythio. The community was affected by the floods of Evros which lasted from February 17 to March 8, 2005. Turkey is to the south and to the east. Forests are along the riverbed and farmlands are along Petrades. It is accessed by a road linking GR-51 near Didymoteicho and Pythio and Uzunköprü and south to Keşan.

Isaakio

Isaakio is a town of Evros regional unit in Greece. It is located 2 kilometers north of Didymoteicho. Its population according to the 2001 census was about 800.

Greek National Road 51

Greek National Road 51 (Greek: Εθνική Οδός 51, abbreviated as EO51) is a single carriageway road in northeastern Greece. It connects the Greek National Road 2 (Florina - Thessaloniki - Alexandroupoli - Turkey) near Feres with the Bulgarian border near Ormenio. The main towns on the GR-51 are Didymoteicho and Orestiada. The entire GR-51 is part of the European route E85. Its length is about 128 km. It runs from south to north, parallel to the river Evros.

Erythropotamos

The Erythropotamos (Greek: Ερυθροπόταμος, meaning "red river") or Luda reka (Bulgarian: Луда река, meaning "mad river") is a river in southern Bulgaria and northeastern Greece. Its Turkish name was Küzüldeli Su. Its source is near Mega Dereio. It flows into the Maritsa (Evros) near Didymoteicho. The source of the river is in the eastern Rhodope Mountains in the western Evros regional unit, Greece, near the village Mikro Dereio.
