Promyri

Promyri is a village in Magnesia, Greece. The stone-built village of Promyri clings to the steep hillsides of a long valley reaching the sea at Katigiorgis. The main road bypasses the village so it is quiet and free from traffic. The narrow streets are made of cobblestone and are surrounded by trees providing shade from the sun. The island of Skiathos can be seen from the centre of the village. The old houses are built from stone and date from the late 19th century.

Pagasetic Gulf

The Pagasetic Gulf is a rounded gulf (max. depth 102 metres) in the Magnesia regional unit that is formed by the Mount Pelion peninsula. It is connected with the Euboic Sea. The passage into the Euboic Sea is narrow and is about 4 km. Its main port is Volos.

Drakeia massacre

The Drakeia massacre (Greek: Η σφαγή της Δράκειας) refers to the mass execution of 118 men by SS soldiers in the village of Drakeia, located on Mount Pelion, in Thessaly, on 18 December 1943. Out of the 350 houses, 58 were destroyed. It was part of the multiple Nazi anti-partisan reprisals in occupied Greece. A wake in memory of the victims is held in the area every year, in the presence of members of the Greek Parliament and the President of Greece.
