Lake Trichonida

Lake Trichonida is the largest natural lake in Greece. It is situated in the eastern part of Aetolia-Acarnania, southeast of the town Agrinio and northwest of Nafpaktos. It covers an area of 98.6 square kilometres with a maximum length of 19 kilometres and maximum depth of 58 metres . One million years ago the lake was much larger, and covered the central part of Aetolia-Acarnania, a part that is now a plain. The Panaitoliko mountains are situated to the north and northeast of the lake.

Thermos (Aetolia)

Thermos (also known as Thermon or Thermum) was an ancient Greek sanctuary, which served as the regular meeting place of the Aetolian League. Its focal point was the temple of Apollo Thermios famous for the archaic terra cotta metopes decorated with painted scenes from mythology which are among the earliest examples of this art form in Greece.

Trichonida Province

Trichonida Province was one of the provinces of the Aetolia-Acarnania Prefecture, Greece. Its territory corresponded with that of the current municipalities Agrinio and Thermo. It was abolished in 2006.

Dimokratias Square (Agrinio)

Dimokratias Square (Greek: Πλατεία Δημοκρατίας, Plateia Dimokratias, "Democracy Square") is the central square of the city of Agrinio. The square was created in 1879 when Michail Bellos (Μιχαήλ Μπέλλος) was mayor, and was long named Bellou Square (Πλατεία Μπέλλου) after him. On Good Friday 1944, the German occupation authorities hung Avraam Anastasiadis, Panos Soulos and Christos Salakos from the square's lamp-posts. Today, three roads leading to the square are named after them.

Panetolikos Stadium

Panetolikos Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Agrinio in Aetolia-Acarnania, Greece. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Panetolikos. The stadium is located at Prousiotissis Street and it holds 7,500 people. Its highest attendance was 11,012 during a match with Olympiacos CFP in 1977. There are plans to increase the seating capacity of the stadium to 11,000 in the future if necessary.
