Yigo, Guam

Yigo (Chamorro: Yigu; pronounced "GEE-GO") is the northernmost village of the United States territory of Guam, and is the location of Andersen Air Force Base. The municipality of Yigo is larger than any other village on the island in terms of area. Yigo is historically one of Guam's richest farming areas. During World War II, the village was the site of a concentration camp during Japanese occupation of the island. It was also the site of the island's final battle during the war.

Andersen Air Force Base

Andersen Air Force Base (AFB) is a United States Air Force (USAF) base located approximately 4 miles northeast of Yigo near Agafo Gumas in the United States territory of Guam. Along with Naval Base Guam, Andersen AFB was placed under the command of Joint Region Marianas on October 1, 2009. The two bases are about 30 miles away at opposite ends of the island. Administration offices for Joint Region Marianas are about half-way in between, at Nimitz Hill.

Dededo, Guam

Dededo is the most populated village in the United States territory of Guam. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Dededo's population was just under 45,000 in 2010. The village is located on the coral plateau of Northern Guam.

Andersen Air Force Base B-2 accident

The Andersen Air Force Base B-2 accident was a February 2008 incident when the Spirit of Kansas, a B-2 Spirit stealth heavy bomber, crashed on the runway shortly after takeoff from Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. The incident marks the first operational loss of a B-2 bomber. Both crew members successfully ejected but the aircraft was destroyed.

Micronesia Mall

Micronesia Mall, located in Dededo at the intersection of Guam Highways 1 and 16, is the largest shopping center in the Western Pacific in the United States territory of Guam. A mix between an outlet mall and an indoor, American-style shopping mall with 130 merchants, Micronesia Mall's 149,377-square-foot anchor is Macy's, which is the only Macy's store west of Hawaii. The mall is also home to boutiques such as Gap, Gap Kids, Aerosoles and Levi's.
